About the event

Nourish your body, mind, and spirit in a monthly full moon ritual with your San Diego sisters. Grab your cup and join us for tea as we build community through thoughtfully guided discussion, and then join together for a yoga flow and guided meditation designed to deepen understanding of and personal connections to the book's themes. Each book is hand-picked to spark conversation and critical thought around empowering and complex feminine topics. All women and femme folk welcome!

No need to finish this book to engage in this event. Our discussions and flow will be themed from the book.

All meetings will take place in person in San Diego and include a one hour discussion on the book, followed by a one hour guided gentle yoga flow. We encourage you to dress it layers, as it may get chilly. All sessions are facilitated by Randall, a certified yoga instructor and local community college professor who holds a PhD in mythology and depth psychology.

We bring: the tea, hot water, and conversation.

You bring: your cup, yoga mat, journal, and thoughts.

January's book is Cassandra Speaks by Elizabeth Lesser!

Cassandra Speaks is about the stories we tell and how those stories become the culture. It’s about the stories we still blindly cling to, and the ones that cling to us: the origin tales, the guiding myths, the religious parables, the literature and films and fairy tales passed down through the centuries about women and men, power and war, sex and love, and the values we live by.  Stories written mostly by men with lessons and laws for all of humanity. We have outgrown so many of them, and still they endure. This book is about what happens when women are the storytellers too—when we speak from our authentic voices, when we flex our values, when we become protagonists in the tales we tell about what it means to be human.

What story would Eve have told about picking the apple? Why is Pandora blamed for opening the box? And what about the fate of Cassandra who was blessed with knowing the future but cursed so that no one believed her? What if women had been the storytellers? Join us for a thoughtful and engaging discussion on this powerful book on mythology and it's relevance in our modern life.
