Welcome to Fernweh Collective, Inc! We are a 501c3 non-profit corporation run by a small group of passionate and talented volunteers. We are committed to providing accessible cultural education opportunities through sustainable experiential learning. Fernweh is a German word that expresses the urge to travel and discover the world. Literally translated, Fernweh means "far-sickness" and conveys the idea of a home-sickness for, and longing to experience, places one has not yet visited. Our name reflects the collective desire of our members to learn from and embrace cultures outside of our own, and the collaborative effort between all of our participants.

We are based in San Diego, California, and we offer both virtual and in-person humanities programming. Our goal is to present University-quality offerings at accessible price points to build intentional human-centered community.
Classes &
Events
Join us on one or more of our local workshops, community betterment projects, or domestic or international tours. All of our tours are culturally responsible, led by a combination of academic researchers and local guides who focus on the local truth instead of the tourist narrative. Our group sizes are kept between 10-15 participants to ensure the best possible travel experience.
